Assam: Agarwood and Advantage Assam 2.0

Agarwood and Advantage Assam 2.0 –  Assam is considered to be the home of Agarwood, which is used on a large scale to make perfumes. Gulf countries are the biggest market for it. The perfumes , which are sold here  on a large scale are all made from Agarwood, produced in Assam state of India.

According to an estimate, this market is worth more than 40 thousand crores. When Zahirul Islam, a resident of Assam who was handling finance in a big company in Saudi Arabia, came to know about this, he was shocked. He was very surprised that, the people of Assam are not even aware, about this demand and importance of Agarwood produced in his state, or rather in his village. Even the state  government is also not much unaware of it.

These things shocked him from within and he left his job and came back to Assam. He started doing research on Agarwood, dur9ing his research he found that “ this business was being run by some businessmen in an unorganized manner.

After that he decided to bring this business in a organized manner.  He explained to the government about the benefits of Agarwood  and today his hard work of 17 years, an Agar International Trade Centre is going to be start in Golaghat from where the government will do a trade of 50 thousand crores.

And the most important thing is that from 25 February, a two-day Advantage Assam 2.0 summit is going to be held in Guwahati, the capital of Assam, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The purpose of this summit is to highlight the benefits and facilities given to investors by the Assam government, along with that the state government also wants to tell the investors in which sectors can be invested in Assam.

One of these sectors is the agriculture sector of Assam. The first name in the list is AGAR wood. We talked about Agar wood with Jahirul Islam who is now making perfumes and also doing exports it on Gulf countries.
