Assam: Ex-servicemen rally held at Narangi Military station

An Ex- Servicemen rally was held at Narangi Military Station on 19 Jan 2020 by HQ 51 Sub Area. The rally was attended by more than 1000 Veer Naris, Ex-Servicemen and their dependents from district Kamrup (Metro) and Kamrup (Rural).
The event was presided over by Governor of Assam as Chief Guest. Other senior dignitaries present included Maj Gen Jarken Gamlin, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC, 51 Sub Area and other senior retired officers.
The rally commenced with a welcome address by Maj Gen Jarken Gamlin, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC, 51 Sub Area who emphasised the commitment of the Army towards the welfare of Veer Naris and Veterans. Then, the rally was addressed by Brig ND Joshi, SM (Retd), Director, Rajya Sainik Board, Assam who apprised regarding various welfare schemes run by Assam Government for Veer Naris/ Ex-Servicemen. Thereafter, the rally was addressed by Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Prof Jagdish Mukhi who praised the valour and sacrifice of the Veterans and assured full support of the State towards their welfare.
The Hon’ble Governor then felicitated Veer Naris, widows and needy Ex-Servicemen which was followed by a cultural programme by a troupe sponsored by Regional Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt of India. Along with the rally, a medical camp was also organised which benefitted a large number of veterans and families. Other facilities in the rally included assistance booths for processing of Jeevan Praman Patra, Pension anomalies, ECHS Cards, Canteen Smart Cards and assistance in civil re-employment through Army Placement Node.
