Misleading News spread by Tax Bar Association. Press release misinterpreted Gauhati High Court’s ( GHC ) Order.

News regarding Extension of Tax Audit due date as published in most of the local dailies are misleading and found to be incorrect.
A news report regarding ” extension of Tax Audit due date ” – published in several local dailies have misguided tax professionals & tax payers who are related with Tax Audit Business.
The news published in local dailies are saying that on the basis of a writ petition filed by Tax Bar Association Guwahati, the Hon’ble Gauhati High court directed Central Board of Direct Taxes ( CBDT ) to extend due date for tax audit report under the Income Tax Act, 1961 upto 31st January’ 2018.
However , The Gauhati High court has not issued such a direction to CBDT to extend the due date. The Gauhati High Court only passed an order asking CBDT to consider and dispose off the representation filed by Tax Bar Association on or before 25.10.2018.”
