Assam: ‘Jain Dharowar Diwas’ celebrated in Guwahati
Huge number of people gathered together to celebrate this diwas.
GUWAHATI- “Jain Dharowar Diwas” or ‘Jain Heritage Day’ was celebrated at ITA centre Machkhowa on Thursday. The celebration was organized by Digambar Jain Mahasabha in collaboration with Shree Digambar Jain Panchayat, Guwahati and Sethi Trust in the memory of Late President of Digambar Jain Mahasabha Nirmal Kumar Sethi.
Huge number of people gathered together to celebrate this diwas.
While Addressing the gathering, Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria said “ when a man grows up, it is very difficult to control his ego. But Nirmal Kumar Sethi was such a simple person that he looked the same whenever he sat with anyone. There was no tendency to show off anywhere. He said that society especially from Nirmal Kumar Sethi “.

The youth can learn a lot. It is a matter of thinking that if one Nirmal Kumar Sethi can do so much for the society, then why can’t we all do together? When a person is determined to do something, he can change every stream of the world. The governor said.
On this occasion, the late social worker Bharat Kumar Kala, who made incomparable contribution in the field of philosophy and literature, and Dr. Shubh Majumdar, who made incomparable contribution in the field of art and archaeology, were awarded an amount of Rs. 1 lakh by the Governor.
On this occasion, the Governor also released Nirmal Kumar Sethi’s biographical work and Nirmal Kumar Sethi special issue of Purvanchal’s only Jain monthly magazine ‘Aagman’.
It is notable that Nirmal Kumar Sethi, born in Tinsukia, the commercial city of Assam, for the contributions made as the President of Bharatvarshiya Digambar Jain Mahasabha for 4 consecutive decades, the Mahasabha has decided to celebrate his death anniversary as Jain Heritage Day every year.

Dr. Malini Goswami, Dr. Ashish Ranjan Sahu, Acharya Deven Chandra Das, Jain Gazette editor Kapurchand Patni were also honored in the meeting. Several dignitaries were present in the meeting including Mahavir Jain ‘Hathigola, President of Shri Digambar Jain Panchayat, Guwahati, Hulaschand Sethi, Chairman of Shri Digambar Jain Panchayat, Guwahati, Mahavir Prasad Chhabra, Mahavir Prasad Sethi.
The cultural program was conducted by Preeti Sethi. Dharmendra Sethi, son of Nirmal Kumar Sethi proposed vote of thanks at the end of the meeting .
