Joint Security Operations in Manipur Yield Major Successes: 17 Cadres Apprehended, Arms Recovered

Security forces also confiscated mobile phones, a pistol, two-wheelers, and other equipment used by the apprehended cadres.

IMPHAL – In a major crackdown on insurgent activities, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in coordination with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP, carried out a series of intelligence-based joint operations across the hill and valley districts of Kakching, Tengnoupal, Bishnupur, and Kangpokpi from 27 April to 04 May 2025.

The operations led to the apprehension of 17 cadres belonging to various hill and valley-based groups, along with the recovery of 31 weapons, 14 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition, and other war-like stores.

Key Operations and Recoveries:

Kakching District (26 April):
In Moltingcham village, a joint operation by Assam Rifles, the Army, and Manipur Police resulted in the seizure of four weapons — including an SLR, two single-barrel guns, one bolt-action rifle — as well as grenades, improvised launchers (pompi), and ammunition.

Tengnoupal District:

T Minou (26 April): Six IEDs were recovered during an area domination patrol.

Salvom-Molnoi Axis (29 April): Three bunkers destroyed; eight IEDs, grenades, and ammunition recovered.

Bishnupur District (29 April):
Based on specific intelligence, a joint search operation near Loktak Lake led to the recovery of two weapons (7.62 mm SLR and 9 mm pistol), grenades, and war-like stores.

Kangpokpi District:

Phaileng (29 April): Four weapons recovered from dense jungle terrain, including two SLRs, one carbine, and a country-made firearm.

30 April: Eight weapons recovered during a joint search, including two SLRs, one INSAS rifle, a 12 bore SBBL, a .22 rifle, and three pompis.

Maohing Kuki (1 May): Five weapons recovered, including an SLR, a .303 bolt-action rifle, and two 12-bore SBBLs.

Bishnupur District (4 May):
In Samuchep Lok Nala near Ningthoukhong, Assam Rifles recovered eight weapons, including two SLRs, two 9mm pistols, one single-barrel rifle, two improvised mortars, and grenades.

Additional Seizures:

Security forces also confiscated mobile phones, a pistol, two-wheelers, and other equipment used by the apprehended cadres.

All arrested individuals and recovered materials have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation.

These coordinated multi-agency operations underscore the continued resolve of the security forces to restore peace and stability in Manipur, amid ongoing insurgent threats.
