Assam Rifles Airlifts Injured 2-Year-Old from Remote Manipur Village

IMPHAL- In a remarkable act of courage and compassion, the Assam Rifles executed a life-saving medical evacuation of a two-year-old girl, Ms Chuishut, from Grihang, a secluded village nestled in Manipur’s Kamjong District.
The child had accidentally fallen into a water tank early in the morning of April 21. Grihang, located in one of the most inaccessible and communication-deprived areas of the state, faced an uphill battle in securing urgent medical help.

Responding to a distress call, the Assam Rifles team swiftly mobilized, with medical personnel reaching the site despite the terrain. The toddler was stabilised on-site, and an urgent helicopter evacuation was coordinated to airlift her to the Assam Rifles Military Hospital in Imphal.
According to Lt Col Amit Shukla, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence, “The village had very little hope for timely medical support. But the seamless coordination and swift response ensured the child was in expert care within hours.”

Once at the hospital, the child received specialized pediatric care, and doctors confirmed that timely intervention was crucial. A delay could have cost the young girl her life.
