The day is not that far when tourists from all over the country and across border will enjoy the much awaited joint retreat ceremony at Integrated Check Post Dawki by troops of Border Security Force and Border Guard Bangladesh.
In a major boost to state tourism and in connection to his visit for the inauguration of Composite Border Observation Post Umsiyam, Ganga Prasad, Governor of Meghalaya inaugurated the Integrated Check Post Gate in presense of P K Dubey, Inspector General BSF Meghalaya Frontier alongwith Zahid Hasan, Additional Director General, Sarail Region, BGB and other officers of both the border guarding forces. He also took a stock of security situation at border and visited BSF BOPs to boost the morale of the BSF troops : The First Line of Defence.
The Governor visited the Integrated Check Post Dawki. He was presented with Guard of Honour on arrival by smartly turned out special guard of BSF. A briefing about the border domination and the security situation at border was given to the Governor by P K Dubey, Inspector General, BSF. The armoury and special surveillance equipments were displayed by the BSF. Taking the pulse of the First Line of Defence he spoke to every single jawan and encouraged them with motivational speech. During inaugural ceremony he said “Will take up necessary steps to promote tourism in the area”. The proposal for Joint Retreat Ceremony at ICP Dawki has been in news and tourists have since been eagerly waiting for the historic event.
Close to ICP gate, a shed cum cafeteria has also been built to facilitate tourists. A photo gallery with several photographs depicting Indo-Bangladesh memorable events in the shed to show cordial relationship between both the neighbouring countries. Documentaries on BSF, photographs on duties being performed and civic action programmes to assist local population in border villages are also worth seeing in the gallery.
The Governor had all praise for service rendered by BSF in border domination along Meghalaya border. He appreciated the duties performed by the BSF soldiers, without caring the personal comforts inspite of hardships due to remoteness of the location, extreme climatic conditions and geographical features like thick jungle, rivers, nullahs etc. He complimented the Force for playing a pivotal role and contributing immensely towards all facets of national security. Being the world’s largest border guarding force, it has glorious saga of velour, sacrifice & dedication and stood upto every challenge which country has faced during last 52 years after its raising.
He extended his best wishes to all BSF personnel and their families and complimented that the Force may continue to achieve excellence and inspire through its deeds of courage and valour.
