Rahul Gandhi Warns of ‘Hydrogen Bomb’ Revelations on ‘Vote Chori’ at Voter Adhikar Yatra Culmination in Patna
Gandhi framed "vote chori" as a broader assault on democracy, stating, “Vote chori means theft of rights, reservation, employment, education, and democracy.”

PATNA- Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, concluded his 16-day ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Patna today with a fiery speech, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of widespread electoral malpractice and promising a “hydrogen bomb” of revelations on alleged “vote chori” (vote theft).
Speaking at a rally at Dak Bungalow crossing, Gandhi claimed that the forthcoming exposé would be so significant that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “will not be able to show his face to the country.”
The ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra,’ launched on August 17 from Sasaram, covered 110 assembly constituencies across 25 districts in Bihar, aiming to highlight alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Gandhi, joined by INDIA bloc leaders including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and others, began the day’s events with floral tributes at Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Gandhi Maidan.

In his address, Gandhi escalated his earlier claims of an “atom bomb” revelation regarding vote fraud in Mahadevpura (Bangalore Central Lok Sabha constituency), stating, “BJP people, be ready, a hydrogen bomb is coming. The truth about vote chori will be revealed to the people of the country.” He accused the BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI) of colluding to manipulate voter lists, alleging that nearly one crore new voters were added post-Lok Sabha elections, disproportionately favoring the BJP.

Gandhi framed “vote chori” as a broader assault on democracy, stating, “Vote chori means theft of rights, reservation, employment, education, and democracy.” He further linked the BJP to “forces that murdered Mahatma Gandhi,” alleging they are now attempting to “destroy the Constitution of Dr. BR Ambedkar.” The rally saw strong public support, with crowds chanting “vote chor, gaddi chhor” (vote thief, leave the throne).
The BJP swiftly hit back, with MP Ravi Shankar Prasad calling Gandhi’s remarks “irresponsible” and questioning their relevance to elections. “How are the atom bomb and hydrogen bomb related to elections? Rahul Gandhi is demeaning himself as the Leader of Opposition,” Prasad said in Delhi. The BJP also alleged that the Patna rally included 20,000 people brought from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, to inflate crowd numbers.

While Gandhi did not specify which constituency would be the focus of the “hydrogen bomb” exposé, earlier crowd reactions chanting “Varanasi” – PM Modi’s constituency – hinted at a possible target. The Congress leader’s allegations come amid ongoing tensions over the ECI’s SIR process in Bihar, which the Supreme Court recently described as a “trust issue.”
The rally, attended by INDIA bloc leaders like TMC’s Yusuf Pathan, Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Sanjay Raut, and CPI(M)’s M.A. Baby, underscored the opposition’s unified stance against alleged electoral fraud ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. Despite police halting the march midway citing a restricted area, the event marked a significant escalation in the opposition’s campaign to challenge the BJP’s electoral practices.
As Bihar gears up for polls, Gandhi’s provocative rhetoric and promises of further revelations have intensified the political battle, raising questions about the integrity of the electoral process and setting the stage for a heated confrontation.
