Assam: Tribute paid to remains of martyr Padam Bahadur Shrestha

The mortal remains were then taken to his village in a ‘Martyr March’, joined by more than 550 motorcycles and 200 vehicles and several hundred youth.

Last rites of Havidar Padam Bahadur Shrestha were performed with full military and state honours in Dighalipather, his native village in Assam’s Golaghat district on 22 Oct 2019.

Havildar Shrestha made the supreme  sacrifice in an unprovoked Pakistani firing on the Line of Control in  Tangdhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir on October 19. His mortal remains arrived at Dimapur Airport  afternoon on 22 Oct and were received by Military and civil dignitaries.

The mortal remains were then taken to his village in a ‘Martyr March’, joined by more than 550 motorcycles and 200 vehicles and several hundred youth.

Enroute, he was honoured by the civil administration and fellow soldiers.

The cremation took place at around 6 PM in the presence of military and civil dignitaries.
