Assam: DSC discusses formulation of skill development plan for aspirational Hailakandi district
A meeting of the District Skill Committee (DSC) was held, Hailakandi dist of Assam to discuss the District Skill Development Plan (DSDP).

Chairing a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall here on Wednesday, District Development Commissioner, FR Laskar called upon all the stakeholders to put in all efforts to creating an enabling environment in which the aspirational district can overcome the challenges and exploit its potential to the optimum level for overall skill development.
The Programme to Mainstream Aspirational Districts through Skill Development was launched by Minister of State, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Anant Kumar Hedge on October 3 last year. The programme is being implemented in 117 districts across 28 States.
The programme involves identification of challenges for skill development and co-creating customized solutions to help the districts overcome these challenges. Officials from MSDE, DGT, NSDC and NSDA have been making field visits to the Aspirational Districts under the programme. MSDE endeavours to facilitate strengthening of governance and institutional infrastructure for skill development.
Operationalised in three phases, the outcomes of the Mission are expected to be announced by January 26 next.
Members of the DSC discussed threadbare on a gamut of issues such as mapping of skill profile of the district, district skill ecosystem, district specific challenges and potential areas of support and interventions required for formulation of DSDP.
Officials and experts point out the key outcomes of the programme that involves mapping of resources and convergence of schemes at the district level will help to bridge the gap between demand and supply through a differential approach aimed at addressing geographic and sectoral gaps.
Building skill ecosystem through enablers such as mobilization, counselling and industry engagement and real-time monitoring and participatory appraisal for evolving of DSDP based on the challenges are the other avowed objectives of the programme.
