Maoist leader Tingraj Orang surrenders in Assam

GUWAHATI- One senior Maoist leader Tingraj Orang (49 yrs) surrendered before Hiren Ch. Nath, Adl. Director General of Police, Special Branch, Assam.

Tingraj  is the convener of Assam State Organizing Committee (ASOC)  of CPI (Maoist),  formed in 2017 in a meeting of Eastern Regional Bureau ( ERB) held in Jharkhand Orissa border. He was Gen. Secy. of Barak and Bramhaputra Valley Zonal Committees of CPI (Maoist) in Assam.

He started his association with Left as member of SFI and CPM from 1989-99. He was president of Adivasi Chah Janagoshti  Suraksha Committee. Formally joined CPI (Maoist) in 2006 and met Kishan Da (ERB Chief). In 2011 he was arrested in Rourkella, Orissa along with 2 CPI Maoist cadre of Assam- Aditya Bora and Ajoy Sabor.  He is a resident of Samuktola village of Dibrugarh district.

He is the only senior Maoist leader expanding bases of CPI (Maoist) in Barak and Brahmaputra Valley of Assam. His surrender would be a huge setback for CPI (Maoist) movement in Assam, and the ASOC would be leaderless.

Though no arms and ammunitions, but his surrender will be moral setback of Maoist elements in the State.
