Manipur: NIA Begins Probe Into KNA, ZRA, KNF(NF) and UKLF

IMPHAL-  The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on the instructions of the Home Ministry has started investigating three Kuki and one Zomi militant organization that are spreading unrest in Manipur.

According to a report in Indian Express, these militant organizations have been identified as Kuki National Army (KNA), Kuki National Front (Nehlun faction), United Kuki Liberation Army and Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA).

The Home Ministry’s instructions to the NIA are that  “ these groups intend to separate an independent Chin-Kuki-Zomi state from Manipur, Bangladesh and Myanmar. Surprisingly, two of these groups, KNA and ZRA, are under SOO (Suspension of Operation) agreement with the Government of India”.

According to media reports, the Home Ministry has also told the NIA that “these groups are getting support from the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Myanmar. Let us tell you that PDF has been fighting against the military junta in Myanmar since the coup of 2021”.

According to the information, some Kuki militant groups based in Manipur are being provided funds from Chin-Kuki and Joe groups of Myanmar to carry out violence in Imphal Valley.
