12th Convocation of Assam down town University Celebrates Excellence and New Beginnings

Governor of Assam confers honorary doctorates on Dr. Randeep Guleria and Dr. Sri Sri Pitambar Dev Goswami; graduates urged to embrace resilience and innovation

GUWAHATI-  The 12th Convocation Ceremony of Assam down town University (AdtU) was held with grandeur and solemnity, celebrating academic excellence, new beginnings, and the university’s commitment to nurturing future-ready graduates.

The event was graced by Governor of Assam, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, who was warmly received by Dr. N.N. Dutta, Chancellor, and Prof. N.C. Talukdar, Vice Chancellor. Marking the occasion, the Governor planted a sapling on campus symbolizing growth, sustainability, and the nurturing of young minds.

The ceremony began with an academic procession, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem and the Assam State Anthem. The Governor then formally declared the convocation open.

  • Honorary Degrees:
    • D.Sc. (Honoris Causa): Padma Shri Dr. Randeep Guleria, Former Director AIIMS New Delhi & President AIIMS Bilaspur.
    • D.Litt. (Honoris Causa): Dr. Sri Sri Pitambar Dev Goswami, 16th Satradhikar, Sri Sri Auniati Satra.
  • Student Achievements:
    • Best Postgraduate (Gold Medal): Ms. Punam Kumari, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science.
    • Best Undergraduate (Gold Medal): Mr. Krishna Kumar Bharti, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science.
    • Best Placement Achiever: Ms. Nafisa Rahman Choudhuri, Faculty of Commerce and Management.
    • AdtU Alumni Award: Ms. Leimapokpam Ranjita Devi for Inspiring Achievement.
  • Graduates: Degrees conferred upon Ph.D., Postgraduate, and Undergraduate students across faculties.

The Oath of Dedication was administered by the Best Postgraduate student of the 2024–25 batch, reinforcing the values of integrity, service, and responsibility.

In his address, Governor Acharya congratulated the graduates, urging them to apply their knowledge and skills to build a better tomorrow. He stressed the importance of resilience, compassion, and innovation in navigating the fast-changing global landscape.

The event concluded with the signing of the Convocation Book, a Vote of Thanks, and the National Anthem.

The 12th Convocation stood as a testament to AdtU’s vision of excellence and its mission to empower students as leaders, innovators, and changemakers of tomorrow.
