Assam Final SR 2026 Voter List: How to Check Name Online

The Election Commission of India has published Assam’s final electoral roll after a Special Revision conducted through door-to-door verification ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

GUWAHATI — The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday published the final electoral roll for Assam following the Special Revision (SR) 2026, marking a key milestone in preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.

Unlike the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) carried out in 12 other states and Union Territories—largely based on form-filling and document submission—the SR exercise in Assam was conducted through door-to-door verification. According to election officials, a total of 29,656 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were deployed across the state to physically verify electors at their residences.

The draft electoral roll prepared after the SR reflected a total of 2,52,01,624 electors, registering a 1.35 per cent increase compared to the final roll published in January 2025. Data released by the ECI shows that between January 6 and December 27 last year, the revision process recorded 7,86,841 additions and 4,47,196 deletions.

During the verification exercise, officials identified 4,78,992 deceased electors, 5,23,680 electors who had shifted residence, and 53,619 cases of multiple enrolments. The Election Commission clarified that these names will be processed for deletion or transfer only after formal applications are submitted during the claims and objections period, in accordance with established electoral procedures.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that an “extensive” Special Intensive Revision would be undertaken in Assam after the completion of the Assembly elections, indicating further scrutiny of the voter database in the future.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has reviewed Assam’s preparedness for the forthcoming Assembly elections, which are expected to be held in March or April 2026. A two-day review meeting was conducted to assess district-level readiness, security deployment, voter facilitation measures and coordination with enforcement agencies.

Officials said the publication of the final SR voter list is intended to ensure greater accuracy and inclusiveness in the electoral process, particularly in a state that has witnessed long-standing debates over migration, voter eligibility and electoral integrity.
