Assam: 4 smugglers including 2 women arrested with Gold bar worth Rs. 1.12 Crs
Guwahati: RPF team from Guwahati conducted raid in Avadh Assam Express and arrested four smugglers including two women and recovered gold bars worth of 1.12 Crores from their possession, informed Subhanan Chanda , CPRO of North Frontier Railway.
On receipt of information, RPF team from Guwahati comprising Sub Inspector, Madhab Ekka, Constable, Kamal Hussain, Constable, Dharmendra Yadab and Constable, Inderjeet conducted raid in train no 05909 DN (Avadh Assam Exp) from Guwahati to Barpeta Road station on 01/02-10-2020.
During raid they apprehended 4(four) persons named, (i) Padma Saha, 46 yrs, w/o Ashish Saha, (ii) Sandhya Das, 31 yrs, w/o Subhash Das, (iii) Md. Ansarul Alom, 42 yrs, s/o Hiyas Ali, (iv) Prabir Sarkar, 37 yrs, s/o Ananda Sarkar from berth no. 25,26,32,34 (coach No A-1) of the said train.
13 pieces of Gold bars weighing about 02.15 kgs were recovered from their possession, which were kept concealed in shoes, bags and waist bands. Value of the seized Gold bars is Rs. 1.12 crores approx.
Later, the apprehended persons were taken into custody by DRI/Guwahati for necessary action. In this regard, DRI/Guwahati registered a case vide no. 07/CL/IMP/GOLD/DRI/GZU/2020-21 dated 02.10.2020.
