Assam: Acid attack on minor girl in Barpeta
GUWAHATI- In the last three days, the second case of acid attack has come to light from Assam. Police said on Tuesday “ A 20-year-old man has allegedly thrown battery acid on a 17-year-old girl in Barpeta, the accused has been arrested ”.
According to the police, the incident took place in Majdiya village under Sarthebari police station area on Sunday night when the girl was returning home after attending a cultural programme. The accused has attacked the victim with acid after ending the relationship.

Barpeta ASP Pradeep Saikia told that “Preliminary investigation reveals that there was a love affair between the victim and the accused. Recently the girl had broken up with the person. After this, the accused Mehar Ali poured battery acid on the minor girl.
Police said the girl, who sustained injuries on her neck and shoulder, was treated at a local hospital and was discharged after her condition improved. At the same time, the accused Mehar Ali has been arrested and the matter is being investigated.

According to media reports, this is the second case of acid attack in Assam in the last 3 days. A businessman has been arrested for acid attack on a 30-year-old woman at Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district on Monday.
