A well equipped Army team along with SDRF and NDRF deployed in Brahmaputra for rescue operation in Boat tragedy .

A total of 5 Officers, 07 Junior Commission Officers and 70 Other Ranks of the Indian Army are deployed in the rescue operation in the Brahmaputra River where a motorised boat had capsize on 05 September 2018.
The Army personels alongwith the SDRF and NDRF has been carrying out search for the missing person and the boat but no fruitful result achieved till now.
Indian Navy personels will join the operation and the task will be carried out again tomorrow . The Army includes team from the Engineer Regiment and the personels from the IWT Battalion equip with sophisticated equipments for the operation.
Indian Air force helicopter were also used for recee of the area.
The Tragedy
A boat carrying approximately over 40 people capsized in the Brahmaputra river in North Guwahati on Wednesday. The boat was on its way to North Guwahati from Guwahati.
According to reports, the boat developed a technical glitch following which it collided with a water supply project in the Brahmaputra.
Till now three bodies have been recovered. Rescue operations are still going on.
