Colonel ( Retd ) Manoranjan Goswami, father of veteran journalist Arnab Goswami passed away at in Mumbai after ‘battling a long illness.’
Arnab Goswami in a brief message to the media fraternity on 9 November said that his father, Retd. Colonel Manoranjan Goswami, passed away at around 12:45 AM in Mumbai after ‘battling a long illness.’

Manoranjan Goswami was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and contested the 1998 Lok Sabha Polls as the BJP candidate for the prestigious Guwahati seat where he was defeated by Congress candidate Bhubaneshwar Kalita.
The mortal remains of Manoranjan Goswami will be brought to Guwahati on Friday. His final rites will be performed in Guwahati on Saturday afternoon.
