Assam: DC Hailakandi serves show cause notice to health officer

The Hailakandi district administration of Assam has served show cause notice to senior medical and health officer, Dr. RB Malakar for dereliction of duty, gross misconduct and illegal gratification.
Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi, Adil Khan during a sudden visit to SK Roy Civil Hospital today found Dr. Malakar conspicuous by his absence in the Gynecology OPD. Dr. Malakar was caught red-handed by the Deputy Commissioner while doing private practice and charging consultation fee from the patients at his official quarter just behind the civil hospital.
It is against this backdrop, Deputy Commissioner Khan issued show cause notice to Dr. Malakar asking to reply within March 29 as to why disciplinary action should not be initiated against him for dereliction of duty, insubordination and gross misconduct as well as criminal proceedings for accepting illegal gratification other than legal remuneration as per Official Act.
