Assam: Indian Army holds Veterans rally at Bongaigaon

With the declaration of the current year as ‘Year of Next of Kin’ by the Indian Army, a formation of Indian Army organized a unique rally at Chaparkata, Bongaigaon for the Ex-servicemen of seven districts of Lower Assam region wherein, with the synergized efforts of Army units & civil administration the representatives of all concerned departments of the districts, to include Revenue, Public Health, Law & Order, Higher Education, Welfare and Social Justice were concentrated under one roof to facilitate the veterans fraternity towards a prompt redressal of their grievances.
The Army always considers it as its responsibility to take care of veterans, widows, Next of Kin (NoKs), and war widows and makes endeavours to solve their problems by continuous engagement with the concerned departments.
The outstanding anomalies in terms of pension & entitlements, registration for ECHS, ADLRS and DIAV platform were promptly addressed on the spot. The Zila Sainik Boards of all the districts were also actively involved which provided an opportunity to contact a large number of ex-servicemen at one single venue in a single day.
The Ex-servicemen were also made aware about the latest education and job opportunities for them and their wards under Digital India and Skill India Programmes. The information provided on medicinal and fruit bearing plants, making of vermin-compost and need of diversified horticulture was praised by one and all.
Approximately 2000 ex-servicemen, veterans NoKs attended the event, all of who got benefited in one or the other way which will further develop a strong relationship between the serving and the veteran Army personnel. Those in need of medical attention were examined and treated with an added facility of Dental aid.
