Assam: Tribal students unions demand ST Hostels in every govt Colleges and Universities

All India Tribal Students Association Assam (AITSAA) stressed on lackadaisical attitude towards the ST People and demanded setting up ST Hostel in every govt College and university.

It is time to fulfill the right to education act and four languages theories in tribal dominated area, said Toren Boro president of Boro Sahitya  Sabha at State basis Meritorious Students felicitation programme jointly organized by All India Tribal Students Association Assam, All Assam Tribal Students Union and All Assam Tribal Youth Union on 10th August at Cotton University Sudmersen Hall on Saturday.

Boro who attended the felicitation ceremony as chief guest, greeted and asked all the meritorious ST students of Assam to continued work hard to achieve their own ambition with dignified manner respectively.

At the function more than  500 students from Boro, Miri(Mising) Tiwa, Rabha, Dimasa, Karbi, Deori, Sonowal, Thengal Kachari, Naga, Barman Kachari, Mech, Hmar, Garo were highly felicitated with certificate of merit, dictionary, tribal attire, japi etc.

All India Tribal Students Association Assam (AITSAA) adviser Arindom Prince Panging while addressing the gathering stressed on lackadaisical attitude towards the ST People and demanded setting up ST Hostel in every govt College and university.

He also appealed to set up a Tribal Park in Guwahati city for cultural promotion and preservation of ST communities.

He also said that ST scholarship should be disbursed on regularly on time for the benefit of the students.

BJP Assam state unit Spokesperson Jayanta Kr Das who also attended the function advised the students to concentrate on their studies and work hard to achieve something in life.  He further stated that the State government will always felicitate with opportunities and policies to encourage and uplift the tribal community.

At the function a interaction seminar on UPSC/APSC preparations was presided by John Ingti Kathar Retd IAS officer and JI Kathers.

The day long programme was also attended by Nobin Johori president of All Dimasa Students Union, Keshab Neog president of All Thengal Kachari Students Union, Thaneswar Deori Vice president of Deori Student Union, Atul Bharali, Bhabakanta Yein and other students leaders.
