BSF Meghalaya Frontier Organises Police Commemoration Day


On the occasion of Police Commemoration Day – 2017, BSF Meghalaya Frontier paid rich homage to 370 martyrs of all Central Armed Police Forces and State Police Organizations who have made supreme sacrifice for the nation.

54 brave BSF personnel including 6 Subordinate Officers and 48 Other Ranks laid down their lives while performing duties in different parts of the Country. 2 brave Meghalaya State Police personnel also laid down their lives while performing their duties.

During the commemoration day parade, names of all martyrs of police and Central Armed Police Forces who sacrificed their life during last one year were read over by Dr Sabu A Joseph, Dy Inspector General/PSO, Meghalaya Frontier and two minutes silence was observed to pay homage to all martyrs.

Police Commemoration Day is observed on 21st Oct’ every year in remembrance of the 10 CRPF personnel who were killed on this day in 1959 at Hot Spring Post in Ladakh on Indo-China border.

Dr Sabu A Joseph, Dy Inspector General/PSO laid wreath at War Memorial and paid homage to the martyrs. All Officers and men of Frontier HQ BSF Meghalaya, Sector HQ Mawpat and local units were present during the parade. Similar programme was organized at Sector Headquarter Tura also.
