Manipur: Bailey Bridge Collapses on NH-102B
Bridge near Sinzawl village collapses after heavy trucks cross; no casualties reported.

CHURACHANDPUR- A Bailey bridge located on National Highway 102B (Guite Road) near Sinzawl village in Manipur’s Churachandpur district collapsed on the night of April 30, disrupting a key route connecting the state to Mizoram.
According to preliminary information, the collapse occurred after two heavily loaded trucks attempted to cross the bridge simultaneously. The structure, described as delicate and not designed to bear such weight at once, gave way under pressure.
Despite the severity of the incident, no casualties or injuries have been reported, offering relief to authorities and local residents.

The bridge serves as a vital link along NH-102B, facilitating movement between Churachandpur and parts of Mizoram. Its collapse is expected to disrupt transportation and supply chains in the region, particularly affecting remote areas dependent on this route.
Local officials are assessing the extent of the damage and are expected to initiate restoration work. Temporary arrangements or alternate routes may be explored to maintain connectivity.
