Assam: DC urges merchants,  not to artificially hike prices of essential commodities

The DC, Hailakandi, Assam,  asked the merchants and wholesalers not to artificially hike the prices of essential commodities and maintain prominent display of stock position together with price of each item every day.

A meeting was convened by the district administration, Hailakandi with the merchant association, wholesalers and owners of petrol pumps and gas agencies at his office conference hall here today.

Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan asked the merchant association and wholesalers to keep sufficient stock of essential commodities to meet any exigency during flood and other natural calamities. Khan urged them not to resort to black-marketing and hoarding of essential commodities.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the wholesalers not to artificially hike the prices of essential commodities and maintain prominent display of stock position together with price of each item every day.

The merchant association as well as wholesalers, owners of petrol pumps and gas agencies assured the Deputy Commissioner of all possible support and cooperation.

The Deputy Commissioner congratulated the owners of gas agencies for meeting the target on installation of new gas connection under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana for the year 2017-18.
