Railway Protection Force (RPF) acting promptly on information rescued 5 girls and 1 boy alongwith 1 lady trafficker from 2nd class waiting room in platform no 1 of Rangiya station on 4th June, 2018.
As per details divulged by Ashok Das, Inspector RPF, Rangiya Sub Inspector, H.K. Sharma, Constable / Bhaskar Malakar, Seema and Mukunda Deka traced the girls and boy sitting in a suspicious manner in the waiting room along with the trafficker namely Rohila Basumatary.
All of them are from Silapathar, Dhemaji and are going to Gujarat for the first time with Rohila Basumatary (Trafficker) for working in a fish packing company. Rescued girls and boy with trafficker were kept at the Rangiya RPF post for further action as per rule.
The northeast is a popular hunt for traffickers from where vulnerable minors are taken to places like Nepal and other parts of India for use as child labours. RPF of N.F. Railway has been instrumental in rescuing minors from the hand of traffickers. During the year 2017 RPF rescued 515 minor children and arrested 11 traffickers. This year RPF has already rescued nearly 244 children from railway premises all over N.F. Railway.
In another incident RPF / Guwahati arrested a criminal involved in snatching incident from Guwahati Railway station. The name of the criminal is Sukur Ali aged about 19 years from Paltan Bazar, Kamrup (Assam). One mobile phone belonging to Mr. Don kr. Marak valued Rs. 15,000/- was also recovered from the arrested criminal. A case has been registered vide number 141/18 under section 379 IPC dated 04.06.2018.
