Assam Tourist Arrival Crosses 1 Crore Mark For First Time Ever in History, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Announced

GUWAHATI-     Tourist arrival in Assam crossed 1 crore for first time in history this year, announced Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday.

Assam Tourism Development Corporation has been eyeing over one crore domestic traveller footfall since the beginning of this year, following a surge in tourists’ interest in visiting the state.

“Having been born and bred in Assam’s public life, I can vouch that prior to 2014, nobody imagined that one day Assam will emerge as India’s tourist hotspot. This is striking evidence of Hon’ble Prime Minister’s efforts over 9 years to establish peace & progress in the State” CM Tweeted.

You all know about Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, but very few people know about the Khajuraho of Assam. Assam’s Khajuraho is located at Baihata, about 40 Km from Guwahati , known as MadanKamdev temple. There are partially demolished statues spread in a radius of half a kilometer which keeps the story of Kamdev and his wife Rati still alive.
