Manipur; Grenade found with warning note at Imphal college gate near Raj Bhavan
Police said the grenade was found along with a note that demanded that authorities honour the “rights of proletarian students’ free education movement”.
IMPHAL– A hand grenade was found at the gates of GP Women’s College, located less than 100 metres from the Raj Bhavan here, on Monday morning, police said. The incident triggered panic among passersby.

The grenade was noticed by passers-by around 6 am, lying in front of GP Women’s College, after which a police team and a bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot. It was then defused and disposed of at the Lamphel Game Village area in Imphal West by around 7.20 am.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. The motive behind the threat and those responsible for it are yet to be ascertained.

The incident comes a day after a similar bomb threat at the residence of a doctor – the proprietor of a private hospital – in Thoubal district. Denouncing the threat, residents of Khangabok in Thoubal district had staged a sit-in protest on Sunday, blocking NH-102.
They resolved to launch an agitation and boycott all armed groups if those responsible do not spell out the motive behind the threat within 48 hours.
