Grenades, IEDs Seized in Multiple Operations by Manipur Police

Security forces recover arms and explosives, arrest insurgent cadres, and intensify operations across vulnerable areas in Manipur.

IMPHAL-  Security forces carried out a series of coordinated operations across multiple districts in Manipur on March 31 and April 1, resulting in the recovery of arms, ammunition, and explosive devices, as well as the arrest of suspected insurgent cadres.

On April 1, security personnel recovered two hand grenades, five magazines of different arms, and 2,388 rounds of ammunition of various calibres from Heirok Part-II in the Khangabok Mahadeva Ching area under Heirok Police Station in Thoubal district.

Earlier, on March 31, an alleged active cadre of the RPF/PLA, identified as Nepram Lemba Meitei alias Tomba (24), was arrested from the Khabeisoi area under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East district. In a separate operation the same day, another alleged cadre belonging to the KCP (MFL), identified as Leimapokpam Sanjit Singh alias Naobi (54), was apprehended from Kongpal Kongkham Leikai under Porompat Police Station.

In Tengnoupal district, security forces recovered a cache of arms and explosives from the forested Saivom Ridge area under Tengnoupal Police Station. The items included four 9 mm pistols, four pistol magazines, and 12 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which were destroyed on site. Additional items such as combat clothing and related materials were also seized.

Officials stated that search operations and area domination exercises are ongoing in fringe and vulnerable regions across the state as part of efforts to maintain security and prevent insurgent activity.

Authorities also reported that the movement of essential goods along National Highway-37 continues under security escort, with 254 vehicles facilitated through sensitive stretches. To enhance security, 115 naka (checkpoints) were established across hill and valley districts, although no detentions were reported during these checks.

Security agencies indicated that operations will continue in the coming days to stabilise the situation and ensure safe movement of civilians and goods.
