Himanta Meets Kiren Rijiju in Delhi, Discuss Flood Rehabilitation
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju discussed rehabilitation measures and Centre-State coordination for flood-affected communities in Assam.

NEW DELHI- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday met Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju in New Delhi to discuss flood relief, rehabilitation, and long-term recovery efforts for people affected by this year’s monsoon floods in Assam.
Sharing details of the meeting on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said he expressed his gratitude to the Union Minister for his recent visit to Assam to review the flood situation and assess the impact on affected areas.
“Today in Delhi, I had a fruitful meeting with Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Kiren Rijiju Ji. I conveyed my gratitude for his recent visit to Assam to review the flood situation. During our meeting, he also shared some very valuable observations,” Sarma said.

The Chief Minister stated that the discussions primarily focused on strengthening rehabilitation efforts and rebuilding the livelihoods of people affected by the recent floods across the state.
“Our double-engine government will intensify rehabilitation efforts as we help rebuild the livelihoods of all those who have been impacted by these floods,” he added.
In a separate post on X, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju described the meeting as productive and commended the Assam Government for its proactive response during the monsoon floods.

He congratulated Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for the measures taken to safeguard the people of Assam and said the Chief Minister’s leadership was contributing significantly to the state’s development.
The meeting reaffirmed the continued coordination between the Central and Assam Governments in carrying forward relief operations, rehabilitation programmes, and long-term recovery initiatives following the floods.
Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. K. K. Dwivedi and Assam Bhawan Resident Commissioner Kavitha Padmanabhan were also present during the meeting.
