Adil Khan, DC Hailakandi, Assam asks Circle Officers to provide protection to health workers engaged in MR vaccination.
In the wake of assault on a lady head teacher by miscreants during Measles Rubella vaccination campaign, the Hailakandi district administration has decided to provide security to the health functionaries.
Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan assured the health officials that security would be provided to health functionaries particularly in the resistance prone areas.
In an emergent meeting held on Wednesday following the attack on a head teacher named Jaya Das by miscreants during the vaccination drive leading to her hospitalisation, the health officials requested the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police to provide protection to the health workers engaged in the vaccination drive to instill confidence in them.
Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan asked the Circle Officers to visit the schools where MR vaccination is going on to support the health workers and motivate the teachers as well as parents. “Visit a few sites everyday and provide support wherever required,” Khan instructed the Circle Officers. He asked the health authorities to share the schedule and micro plan with Circle Officers. Khan asked the health officials to submit the details of resistance pockets for necessary intervention by the administration.
Leading from the front, Khan visited some schools at Panchgram on Thursday to instill confidence among the health functionaries and teachers. Panchgram falls under the Algapur revenue circle where the health workers are mostly facing resistance from some quarters.
Meanwhile, Khan congratulated the teachers and parents of Graham MV School for ensuring cent per vaccination and hoped other schools will soon follow suit.
MR vaccination is going on in full swing in different schools across the district. NCC cadets brought out a rally on MR vaccination campaign on Thursday in Hailakandi town to create awareness and mobilise public support.
