Assam: AIN organised Graduation and Lamp Lighting ceremony 

The Lamp Lighting ceremony of batch 2018 and Graduation ceremony of batch 2014 of Army Institute of Nursing (AIN),

The Lamp Lighting ceremony of batch 2018 and Graduation ceremony of batch 2014 of Army Institute of Nursing (AIN), Guwahati was held on 17th Dec 2018 at Brahmaputra Hall of Narangi Cantonment.  Maj Gen Arun Kumar, GOC 51 Sub Area was the Chief Guest and Dr Rathindra Bhuyan, Director of Health Services, Family Planning and Education, Assam   as Guest of Honor  and other Senior officers from the Army, Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences and Gawahati Medical College & Hospital were also in attendance.

AIN was established in August 2006 as a Professional College under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society for female wards of Army personnel and civilians hailing from North East to meet the growing demand for professionally qualified nurses. It is recognised by Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and Assam Nursing Council and affiliated to, Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences Assam to conduct 04 year B.Sc and 02 years M Sc Nursing. Presently 228 students are undergoing B Sc and M Sc Nursing courses at AIN.

Lt Col M Jayalakshmi (Retd), Principal in her annual report said that the Institute once again had 100% placement of the graduates in prestigious hospitals of New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Guwahati during the campus recruitment, which is indicative of the high standards of training and professionalism of this Institution.

The highlights of the Lamp Lighting ceremony was the induction of the fresher’s batch into the Nursing profession and administration of Nurses Pledge by Col R Jayanthi, Principal Matron, 151 Base Hospital. The graduation ceremony marked the distribution of the academic excellence awards.

Ms Nidhi Singh received the Chief of Army Staff “ All Round Best Students” award and Ms Deepa Gurung received the GOC 101 Rolling Trophy for the Best Student in the Clinical Field. Ms Preeti Naik, Ms Nidhi Singh and Ms Deepa Gurung received the Gold, Silver and Bronze medal for standing first, second and third position in the batch respectively. Ms Nidhi Singh was also awarded with cash prize and certificate instituted  by HQ Eastern Command for achieving top 10 ranks in B.Sc Nursing examinations in all four years in the university .

Guest of Honor, Dr Rathindra Bhuyan addressed the gathering and encouraged the students to excel in their future endeavor. The student representative of the graduating batch, in her speech, conveyed a heartfelt gratitude towards the faculty and management of the institute. The program concluded with the national anthem.
