Assam: Army contribute to Skill Development of Women folks

Enduring efforts of Indian Army in nation building through empowerment of women by various schemes and skill development programmes have been a regular feature.
Chindit Battalion under aegis of Red Horns Division has established a Skill Development Centre at Rangiya, Assam in conjunction with the local civil administration and training partners, Team Based Learning (TBL) Education (I) Pvt Ltd since Jun 2018.
The first course commenced on a no cost basis to 49 students on 13 Jun 2018.The students were exposed to modern equipment, facilities and techniques designed to prepare them for their future career.
On successful completion of the course, a ‘Rozgar & Loan Mela’ for job placements was organized with representatives from several companies present to select deserving candidates.
State Bank of India also established a counter to educate the women about the loans available to them under the various government schemes.
All in all, the event was a grand success with four ladies being placed and other ten being registered as loan applicant for self-employment by the end of the day.
There were also many ladies who, while they did not receive immediate offers, were offered trial periods to gauge their suitability.
All trainees were appreciative of the efforts to provide them with such an opportunity, especially the chance to get real time experience in job interviews.
On the termination of the pioneer course on 1st Sep, 2018, Mrs Ashima Rishi, Chairperson, Family Welfare Organisation, distributed the Qualification Certificates to meritorious students and appreciated their efforts towards empowerment through skill development and employment.
Mr Varinder Kumar Gupta, director TBL Edn Pvt Ltd, the training partners conveyed his gratitude towards Army for presenting them with opportunity to contribute towards this noble cause.
The event served to validate the yeoman efforts of the Indian Army in making a positive and discernible change in society through actual tangible results and has given further impetus to the efforts of the forces in nation building.
