One person Sabir Sahu of Mohanpur was arrested today for spreading rumours on NRC in social media. This was disclosed by SP Mohneesh Mishra in the Press Meet convened by Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan today.
In the press conference DC Adil Khan said ” altogether 7,07,857 applications were received for inclusion in NRC. In the part draft NRC 2,22,227 applicants were included which accounted to 31 per cent.
DC Khan said that the complete draft NRC will be available from 10 am on July 30 in all the 57 NRC Seva Kendras across the district.
SP Mishra said adequate forces are available to tackle any law and order situation. He said stringent action will be taken against rumour mongers. Mishra said the administration is constantly monitoring social media.
“NRC updation is a fair exercise and if anyone has doubts can clarify matters with the administration. But no mercy will be shown against anyone found spreading false and baseless information on NRC to create fears in the minds of the people,” he said.
Meanwhile, Section 144 Cr.PC has been promulgated in the entire district to prevent any untoward incident, he added.
