Assam: PM Modi arrives in Sivasagar, will allot ‘patta’ to over a lakh landless people

Sivasagar:   PM Modi on Saturday reaced Sivasagar of Assam on a day-long visit. He will formally hand over ownership of up to seven bighas of farmland each and smaller plots for homesteads to over one lakh indigenous landless people at the public meeting at historic Jeranga Pathar of Sivasagar.

After landing in Jorhat Airport  on a special aircraft, Modi has left for historic Jerenga Pathar in Sivasagar district of Assam in an Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter. Modi will address a huge rally At Jerenga Pathar. He will distribute over 1 lakh land patta (allotment certificates) to indigenous people at Jerenga Pathar.

On Friday, Modi has shared information about his visit in Assamese tweeted on Friday: “Tomorrow, I will be with the people of Assam. In a function at Sivasagar, 1.06 lakh land pattas (allotment certificates) will be distributed. We are committed to working all that is possible for the protection of the rights and diverse culture of great state, Assam.”

While welcoming the PM, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal tweeted: “Welcome Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi,” adding, “Every occasion of PM @narendramodi ji’s visit to Assam has become synonymous with unprecedented development & transformation. Today, we once again mark the beginning of a new age of empowerment for the people of Assam.”
