Assam Police chief G P Singh appointed DG CRPF
Singh is a 1991 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre.

GUWAHATI- Assam Police chief G P Singh has been appointed as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), according to a Personnel Ministry order.
An order by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions said that the Appointments Committee of the union Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for appointment of G P Singh, a 1991 batch IPS officer of Assam Meghalaya cadre as Director General, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Level-16 of the pay matrix from the date of assumption of charge of the post.

Speaking about his new role, DGP GP Singh said. “It is an honor for me that the Central and State Governments have entrusted me with this responsibility. With my prior experience in Assam, I am confident that we can achieve significant progress in various regions.”
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Singh’s appointment as the CRPF DG till the date of his superannuation on November 30, 2027, the order dated January 18 said.
Senior IPS officer Vitul Kumar has been holding officiating charge of the force after the retirement of Anish Dayal Singh on December 31, 2024.

GP Singh, who was previously on central deputation to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) was transferred to Assam as ADGP(Law and Order) in 2019 in the wake of the violent protests in the north-eastern state against the Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA) that year.
