Following four road accidents in past three months in Madhabpur region in South Hailakandi, UMMID, a local based NGO, requested the district administration to initiate necessary steps in right earnest to set things right.
In a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner, Adil Khan here on Monday, Adviser Zafar Iqbal Laskar and President, Faridul Islam Tapadar of UMMID, urged him to initiate necessary steps for early repair of the deplorable stretch of NH154 from Katlicherra to Bhoirobi bordering Mizoram in which four road accidents occurred in the recent past in Madhabpur portion alone, including yesterday’s mishap that resulted in the death of a person and grievously injuring five persons.
The NGO also demanded for placing of an ambulance at Madhabpur Sub Centre to cater to the needs of the patients as well as to transport road accident victims to the nearest hospital.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Khan has directed the officials of the concerned departments to initiate necessary steps in this regard.
