Assam Serial Bomb Blast Case : Ranjan Daimary, 14 Other Convicted, Court will pronounce the punishment on January 30.

The CBI’s special court on Monday convicted Ranjan Daimary, Chief of National Democratic Front of Bodoland ( NDFB ) and 14 others in the 30th October, 2008 Serial Bomb Blast that shocked Assam and claimed the lives of 88 people in Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon and Barpeta.
The other 14 convicts are George Bodo, Jayanta Brahma, Ajay Basumatary, Prabhat Bodo, Raju Sarkar, Khargeshwar Basumatary, Rajen Goyary, B Thorai alias Baisagi, Lok Basumatary, Mathuram Brahma, Mridul Goyary, Nilim Daimary, Ansai Bodo and Indra Bodo.
However the Court will pronounce the punishment on January 30. It must be noted that seven accused are still absconding.
The CBI’s special court pronounce its judgement after 10 years of hearings against the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) chief Ranjan Daimari and fifteen others accused under section 120(B), 121, 122, 123 and 302 of the IPC.
The 2008 Assam bombings occurred in Ganeshguri, Panbazar, CJM court in Guwahati city and the surrounding area of western Assam. Reports indicated as many as eighteen bombs went off across the state. Three blasts occurred in Kokrajhar, with another possible grenade explosion; one in Bongaigaon and two in Barpeta Road.
Huge amounts of explosives like RDX or other plastic explosives, like C4, have been used as a fire erupted immediately following the blasts.
