Three BDOs, Girish Chandra Baishya of Lala, Ranjit Kalita of Borjelenga and Saroj Das of Ramkrishna Nagar Development Blocks have been placed under suspension.
Block Development Officer of Lala, Girish Chandra Baishya has been placed under suspension.
Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad cum Project Director, DRDA, Hailakandi, NKSK Singha disclosed that he had submitted a report against Lala BDO Baishya for his various acts of omission and commission.
Singha disclosed that BDO Baishya had remained unauthorizedly absent from duty at the all-important DISHA meeting chaired by Chairman cum MP Radheshyam Biswas on July 5 and during the Assembly session from 10 to 15 February this year.
Singha said that Baishya, who acted in a cavalier fashion unbecoming of an officer, submitted a bogus inquiry report on misappropriation of MGNREGA fund. Moreover, Baishya also performed much below par while carrying out the assigned tasks under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Grameen (PMAY-G).
Singha pointed out that during a high level review meeting with CEOs, PDs and BDOs in Guwahati in August this year, Commissioner, Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Dr. P. Ashok Babu reprimanded Lala BDO Baishya for his lackadaisical approach towards implementation of flagship programmes.
“Even after being pulled up by the Commissioner in front of everyone, Baishya did not care a hoot and acted in a detrimental manner that hampered the pace of progress of Government of India’s flagship programmes in the block,” added Singha over phone from Delhi.
Besides Baishya, two other BDOs namely Ranjit Kalita of Borjelenga Development Block and Saroj Das of Ramkrishna Nagar and North Karimganj Development Blocks have been placed under suspension for gross violation of Government of India guidelines by not maintaining a minimum required 65% ratio of schemes for Natural Resource Management related work under MGNREGA and for unsatisfactory performance in implementation of PMAY-G.
