Manipur unrest: Army Intervention saves Precious Lives
The prompt action displayed by the troops of army (20 JAT) stationed at Yaingangpokpi area resulted in saving precious life of the villagers.
IMPHAL- On 31 May 2023 at about 4:30 pm a group of miscreant from the valley attacked L. Chajang and nearby six other kuki villages in the the general area Chingdai Kholen under Saikul Sub Division, Kangpokpi District of Manipur with sophisticated weapons. They attacked the unarmed villagers with heavy shells from the hilltop.
The villagers ran for their lives and hid inside the forest till dark and then made a distress call (SOS) while the house around 270 houses were being burnt by the Armed group. Troops from 44 Brigade of the Army stationed at Yaingangpokpi were alerted and the army carried out evacuation of the villagers.

The following day as one person was missing , the rescue team of the army took along few villagers well averse of the area and recovered the dead body of the missing person.
The individual is stated to be mentally unstable person. His hands and leg were chop off and body was burnt alive.

As the police refuse to take over the body, he was cremated there.. On the other hand, the other army troops coming for reinforcement was blocked by women of the area and they could not enter the area on time. However due to relentless effort of the army, many precious lives were saved.
Speaking the media, Mr Mangboi Baite, President Kuki Student Ortganisation (KSO) Bungpi Block , Kangpokpi express his gratitudes to Brig Sandeep Kapoor for the kind gesture and swift action displayed by the army which resulted in saving precious lives and also express hope that army will bring back peace and tranquillity in the trouble torn state.
