Meghalaya: Boy drowns in Simsang river
According to police, the victim was a 12 year old boy identified as Akash Rajbangshi, son of Bikash Pradhan of Rongsak.

A 12 year old boy accidentally drowned in the Simsang River, near Rongsak in Meghalaya on April 24. The area falls under the limits of the Williamnagar Police Station and is about 20 km from the town.
According to police, the victim was a 12 year old boy who had gone out with friends to take a bath at the river, accidentally drowned while taking bath. The young victim has been identified as Akash Rajbangshi, son of Bikash Pradhan of Rongsak.
The incident occurred at about 11:00 am with the body of the victim being taken to the PHC by 11:20 am. He however had expired before reaching the hospital.
“Two people, Ganesh Subba and Suresh Rajbangshi, went to the Rongsak OGC to inform on the incident. They brought the body to the Rongsak PHC before taking him home after he found to be already dead,” said the Superintendent of Police (SP) of EGH, Ringrang TG Momin.
Police visited the victim’s house and conducted inquest and other legal formalities. The relatives however approached the administration for post mortem exemption as the case was one of drowning.
“They later produced the exemption order passed by ADM, A Ch Marak after which the body was handed over to the relatives of the victim,” stated Ringrang.
