KOHIMA- Thousands of people from various Naga communities gathered in Kohima on Tuesday protesting multiple taxation by Naga Political Groups (NPGs). The protest organised by Angami Youth Organization (AYO) at Kohima town.
Massive protests have erupted in Nagaland’s capital town Kohima against illegal taxation. People from different walks of life braved heavy downpour and expressed solidarity to the protest organised by the Angami Youth Organisation.
Worth mentioning, the illegal taxation issue in Nagaland is once again making headlines after the following the death penalty issued to an Angami contractor by the Khango group of the NSCN-(K).

Later, the AYO submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Nagaland requesting immediate remedial measures. Among the listed points in the Memorandum, the AYO demanded that the Government of India strictly enforce the Ceasefire Ground Rules in letter and spirit by ensuring the cadres of the groups adhere to the agreed ground rules.
The Memorandum also stated that the State Government should take necessary action to protect its citizens and assert its authority if any such acts of coercion occur.
