Assam: Blood donation camp organised at SK Roy Civil Hospital

SK Roy Civil Hospital in collaboration with the Barak Valley Voluntary Donors’ Forum organised a voluntary blood donation camp at its hospital premises here Sunday.

Inaugurating the camp, Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi, Adil Khan said that blood donation is like giving another life to somebody because there is no alternative to blood. He said blood donation save many lives.

Khan said that there is no greatest charity other than saving a life. He urged the people to participate in this noble cause and donate their blood.

The blood bank at the civil hospital which had been inoperative for quite some time became fully functional from today, thanks to Deputy Commissioner Khan who helped to procure a 30 KV generator set and upgrading the transmission lines.

Khan set an example by voluntarily donating blood on the occasion. Altogether 13 units of blood have been collected and stored at the blood bank for administering to the poor and needy patients.

SDO (Sadar) Prodip Timung, Joint Director, Health Services, Dr. Avijit Basu and others attended the programme and donated blood.
