District Education Officer (DEO) Rajkumar stated that an investigation is underway to determine whether the issue was caused by poor food quality or negligence in the preparation of the meal. “Food samples have been sent to a laboratory for testing, and strict action will be taken against those found responsible,” Rajkumar assured.
The education department has pledged to implement tighter monitoring processes to prevent such incidents in the future. The mid-day meal program, which plays a crucial role in providing nutritional support to school children, has faced criticism over concerns about food safety and hygiene in government schools.
In the wake of the incident, concerned parents and local residents have raised alarms over the quality of the food served in schools. Parents are demanding regular quality checks and stringent oversight to ensure that children receive safe and nutritious meals.
The district administration has taken the matter seriously, directing officials to strengthen the oversight of the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme to avoid further incidents. ( with agencies input )
