Rahul Gandhi Alleges Massive Voter Fraud in Haryana Polls

Calls It 'Hydrogen Bomb' in Fiery Presser Ahead of Bihar Elections

NEW DELHI-  In a high-stakes press conference dubbed the “H Files” revelation, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission of India (ECI) of orchestrating large-scale electoral manipulation in the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections.

Claiming that 25 lakh votes—over 12% of the state’s electorate—were “stolen” through fake entries, duplicates, and invalid addresses, Gandhi described the expose as a “hydrogen bomb” that exposes systemic fraud threatening India’s democracy.

The timing, just a day before the first phase of Bihar Assembly polls, has sparked accusations of political diversion from the BJP.

Gandhi, addressing reporters at the Congress headquarters here at noon, presented what he called irrefutable evidence from his party’s investigation, including voter lists and data analysis. “This is not just about Haryana; this is a national conspiracy to rig elections,” he asserted, alleging that the fraud turned a projected Congress “landslide” into a narrow BJP victory. Key allegations included:

  • 5.21 lakh duplicate voters: Names and details copied across constituencies to inflate turnout in BJP-favoring areas.
  • 93,174 invalid entries: Voters listed with non-existent addresses, such as “House No. 0,” which Gandhi claimed is a deliberate tool by the ECI to conceal bogus entries.
  • 19.26 lakh bulk voters: Clusters of voters added en masse without verification, often in BJP strongholds.

He further accused the ECI of deleting CCTV footage from polling stations to cover tracks, questioning why the commission failed to act on discrepancies raised during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Bihar.

“The ECI is not independent; it’s protecting the ruling party’s theft,” Gandhi said, urging the Supreme Court to intervene and demanding a full audit of electronic voting machines (EVMs).

In a pointed jab, he linked the Haryana CM’s post-poll “smile” to overconfidence from rigged results, drawing parallels to unsubstantiated claims by foreign entities.

The presser, live-streamed on Gandhi’s X handle, drew sharp rebukes from the BJP, which dismissed it as “Nautanki” (drama) and a desperate bid to deflect from Congress’s poor showing in recent polls.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, in a counter-press conference at BJP headquarters, alleged Gandhi was in “collusion with anti-India forces” and fabricating stories to incite unrest akin to Nepal’s protests.

“Rahul Gandhi talks of atom bombs, but his words lack gravity. Congress leaders admitted defeat in Haryana—now they’re abusing the ECI because exit polls favored us,” Rijiju said, referencing 2004 polls where the NDA gracefully conceded despite favorable surveys.  He also mocked Gandhi’s foreign trips to Cambodia and Thailand as evidence of ulterior motives.

The ECI, through Haryana’s Chief Electoral Officer, promised a “detailed response” later today, refuting claims of irregularities and emphasizing the transparency of the 2024 polls. In a post on X, the CEO Haryana highlighted facts like high voter turnout (68.63%) and no widespread complaints during counting, calling for calm ahead of Bihar voting.

Congress Haryana chief Rao Narender Singh defended the allegations, insisting “the truth is evident with proof,” while NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule echoed calls for ECI accountability.

Reactions on social media were polarized. Supporters hailed Gandhi’s “daring expose,” with posts trending #VoteChori and #HydrogenBomb, while critics, including BJP spokespersons, demanded FIRs against him for “misleading the public” with “fake documents.”

One viral clip showed a journalist pressing Gandhi on delayed objections to Bihar’s SIR, to which he retorted, “It’s the ECI’s job to ensure integrity—not mine.”

As Bihar’s first-phase polls kick off tomorrow, Gandhi’s salvo has intensified scrutiny on electoral processes, with opposition allies like the INDIA bloc amplifying demands for reforms. Analysts see it as a strategic narrative-build for post-poll narratives, potentially galvanizing youth voters amid ongoing EVM-VVPAT debates. The Congress has vowed more “H Files” revelations, but with ECI’s rebuttal pending, the claims’ veracity remains under the spotlight.
