Arunachal: Assam Rifle Eliminate a hardcore NSCN(K) Cadre in Longding

In a major operation launched by the Khonsa battalion of Assam Rifles a hardcore NSCN(K) cadre was killed near Kunsa Village, Longding district.

Acting on a specific intelligence information about NSCN(K) cadres trying to exit from Indian territory, the Khonsa battalions swiftly launched an operation and  established  an ambush on his way.

In the late hours on Friday the column saw movement  of few torches towards them, the column challenged the approaching party to ascertain if the party was of villagers.

The terrorist did not stop and opened automatic fire, the column immediately opened returned fire and the exchange of fire lasted 20 mins. In this exchange of fire a hardcore NSCN(K) cadre was eliminated. The other cadres managed to escape using cover of darkness and bad weather.

In subsequent search operation launched early morning the column found the hardcore cadre in combat dress who had succumbed to bullet injuries, a pistol and other incriminating evidence was also recovered from him.

The eliminated cadre has been identified as Honcham Wangsa, Self Styled Corporal of NSCN(K)’s Mobile two group. The Corporal was likely involved in ambush on Assam Rifles column at Nignu on 3rd Dec 2016 and is also known to be involved in extortion activities in the area.

The SF has been carrying out aggressive operations in the South ALP and this elimination has struck a blow to the illegal activities being carried out by the underground cadres of the group in the area.  The operation has tightened the noose around the gp and has brought relief to the local population. Assam Rifles once again truly stood by their motto “Friends of the north east People”.
