Assam:  Awareness camp on PCR Act, SC & ST (POA) Act in Hailakandi

A day-long awareness programme on ‘Protection of Civil Rights Act 1955’( PCR Act-1955 )  and the ‘Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) ( SC & ST POA Act ) Act 1989” will be held at Rabindra Bhavan in Hailakandi town on Sunday.

Chairperson, Integrated Rural Artisans Development Organisation (IRADO), Banajit Talukdar said the organisation will be conducting the awareness camp following a request from Director Welfare of SC cum State Nodal Officer, SC & ST (POA) Act, Leena Das.

 Talukdar said the awareness camp will provide legal aids to victims belonging to weaker and deprived sections of the society against various crimes and to make them aware of the rights under the Protection of Civil Rights Act 1955 and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989.

The Deputy Commissioner, MLAs, leading citizens and resource persons will take part in the event.
