Assam: Dry Days in Assam Border town In view of Mizoram Election
Dry days declared in areas under Katlicherra excise circle in view of Assembly election in Mizoram .

In view of the ensuing election to the Mizoram Legislative Assembly, dry days have been declared in the areas under the Katlicherra Excise Circle in Hailakandi district of Assam from 5 pm of November 26 to 5 pm of November 28. Assam’s Hailakandi district shares inter-state border on its southern side with Mizoram.
In an order issued to this effect, District Magistrate Adil Khan said dry days have been enforced to maintain peace and tranquility in connection with the election to the Mizoram Legislative Assembly, including the day of counting of votes on December 11.
All Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) off/on and country spirit retail vend licensed premises will remain closed under the Katlicherra Excise Circle on those days.
During the dry days, any person or group found in possession of any intoxicant will be dealt with under the provisions of 135(c) of the Representation of People’s Act, 1951 and 326(a) of the Assam Excise Rules, 2016, the order stated.
