Assam Election Results LIVE: Vote counting for the 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly elections began today at 8 AM across all 126 constituencies, marking a decisive phase in the state’s electoral process.
The primary contest is between the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance and the Congress-led opposition.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is seeking another term from Jalukbari constituency and has led the NDA campaign focusing on development, infrastructure, and governance issues.
On the opposition front, Gaurav Gogoi is contesting from Jorhat in his Assembly debut and has positioned the Congress as an alternative centred on public welfare concerns.
Other key candidates include Badruddin Ajmal from Binnakandi and Atul Bora from Bokakhat, Pradyut Bordoloi from Dispur.

Exit polls released after polling have indicated a strong lead for the NDA, projecting between 85 and 101 seats in the 126-member Assembly, surpassing the majority mark of 64. The Congress is expected to secure between 23 and 36 seats, while smaller parties may have a limited impact.
While the projections suggest a favourable outcome for the ruling alliance, opposition leaders have dismissed exit polls, stating that the final results may differ.
