Assam: Garlabatha Basumatary remembered on 18th death anniversary

Garlabatha Basumatary, Founder president of PDF and Former President of ABSU was remembered towards the Bodoland Movement.


Garlabatha Basumatary, Founder president of Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and Former President of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) was remembered towards the Bodoland Movement,  on his 18th death anniversary observed at his burial place Habrubari Sarfanguri on Friday in Kokrajhar district.

Irrespective of organization, party and local people thronged to paid floral tribute at the  cemetery of Basumatary which was organized by Bir GB Basumatary public charitable Trust.

The celebration started with the flag hoisting by the President of trust pranoy kr Basumatary, Retika Basumatary, widow of martyr Basumatary paid rich floral tribute and lighting lamp to the tomb. Rabiram Narzary, MLA paid rich floral tribute to Basumatary, also followed leaders from various organisations.

Basumatary was gunshot by unidentified miscreants in 7th Sep, 2000 at Sarfanguri oil depot.

Jitendra Brahma MCLA BTC, Sabharam Brahma ex EM BTC, Supriya Rani Basumatary,  President BPF women wing, Jonok Uzir, President ABSU kokrajhar district committee paid tribute to Bsaumatary and observed condolence in memory of Basumatary for his departed soul.

Rabiram Narzary BPF MLA said that late Basumatary contributed a lot towards Bodo nation building in his life, he was a leader of deep philosophy while carrying mass struggled for the caused of Bodoland state.
