The approval came following a proposal submitted by the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding the distribution of responsibilities among ministers inducted during the recent cabinet expansion.

As per the notification, senior BJP leader Rameswar Teli has been allocated the Departments of Transformation and Development, Labour Welfare, and Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare.

Political observers described the allocation of the Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare Department to Teli as significant, considering the state government’s continued focus on welfare initiatives for tea garden communities across Assam.
